 We all use batteries, right? But how many of us know how the battery actually works? We don't have to know about the complicated terms of chemistry formula but basic things like mah are worth learning about. mah is a basic topic of battery. The capacity of batteries is indicated as mah. Mah capacity rating explains the storage capacity available for a particular battery. An ampere-hour is a unit of electric charge. Normal batteries, such as those in mobile phones and digital cameras, are often rated in milliampere-hours. The milliampere-hour is one-thousandth of an ampere-hour and is a technical term for how much electrical charge a particular battery will hold. As an example, using higher mah batteries in a device with constant electrical consumption will theoretically give longer operating times. A battery with a capacity rating of 1000 mah could deliver a current of 1000 ma for one hour. Mah refers to the power a battery holds and the time it can run. Higher mah ratings for the same battery type will generally last longer. 

In rechargeable batteries, this measure is an indicator of the energy charge that a battery can hold, as well as the time it will power a device before needing recharging. Different type of battery has a different type of consumption. But for most cases, the higher mah in batteries the more electrical energy the battery can store. as a result, a rechargeable battery with a higher mah is capable of powering a device for a long time.

A battery that has a 5000mah unit rating is capable of powering a smartphone drawing 100 ma for 50 hours. Placing a 1000mah battery on the same device provides five more hours of use, totaling 100 hours. If we insert an appliance that consumes 100 milliamperes current continuously, the operating time of the appliance will be around 20 hours mathematically. But, this is just a calculation since it varies depending on the performance of the appliance or the conditions it is used in. 

The capacity of the battery is indicated as xxx mah. The formula for mah calculation is: discharge 
(milliampere/hour)= discharge (milliampere)discharging time (hour). This is the exact formula for how we calculate mah for a battery.
